Magic Game Day is an exciting opportunity for players around the world to join in playing Standard in their local communities with the newest cards Magic has to offer on a global scale.
Magic Game Day is a one-day tournament using the Standard format.
Standard format uses the two most recently-released blocks, as well as the current core set. When a new block is launched, the oldest block rotates out of the list. The following card sets are currently permitted in standard format:
- Battle for Zendikar
- Oath of the Gatewatch
- Shadows over Innistrad
- Eldritch Moon
- Aether Revolt
Standard is also a constructed deck format, so the normal constructed rules apply:
•Minimum of sixty cards
•No maximum deck size, as long as you can shuffle your deck unassisted
•Up to fifteen cards in your sideboard, if used
•No more than four of any individual card in your main deck and sideboard combined (with the exception of basic lands)
While mainly focused on providing a fun, relaxed environment in which to enjoy Magic, Game Day events are many players’ first experiences with competitive Magic. They offer a great opportunity to become familiar with some of the rules associated with the more competitive levels of play. Here are some important things to keep in mind:
•Players should bring their own Standard deck, which is a minimum of 60 cards and has a sideboard of up to 15 cards
•Players should remember to bring their own method for tracking life totals, as well as tokens, card sleeves, and counters
The tournamnent will run in Swiss rounds with the number of rounds determined by player count.
Once the top 4 player are determined, the slate will be wiped clean and the top 4 players the will duel it out in a Battle of The Champions single elemination tournament!
